Why Eyes on Flash Now Writes SI

Eyes on Flash now writes SI, not AI, after Executive Order 14434: what the order says, what it leaves alone, and how the site applies it.

On this page 2 sections

Eyes on Flash now writes Super Intelligence and SI where it used to write Artificial Intelligence and AI. The change follows Executive Order 14434, “Inaugurating the Era of Super Intelligence,” which President Trump signed on September 29, 2026.

Why Eyes on Flash now writes SI: the same stack of memory dies under the old word, AI, struck through, and the new word, SITwo panels side by side. Left: the letters AI, struck through with a copper line, above a stack of six memory dies on a base die. Right: the letters SI in mint above an identical stack. A copper arrow points from the left panel to the right.BLOG / REFLECTIONSAI becomes SIEXECUTIVE ORDER 14434 · SEPTEMBER 29, 202601 OLD WORDAI02 NEW WORDSI

I switched every page at once instead of waiting for each one to come up for revision. That way the menus, the series names, and the pages all say the same thing. Nothing about the hardware changed: the accelerators, HBM stacks, and SSDs on these pages are the same parts they were before, and only the word for the software running on them is new.

What the order says

The order sets a policy for the executive branch. Section 2 tells federal departments and agencies to use Super Intelligence and SI in place of Artificial Intelligence and AI, to the maximum extent the law allows. That covers official correspondence, public communications, websites, reports, and policy documents. It doesn’t require anyone to rewrite regulations, contracts, grants, or other documents already issued.

What the order says

Who Executive Order 14434 reaches

Three panels. Panel 1, uses SI: federal departments and agencies, in correspondence, public communications, websites, reports, and policy documents, from section 2(a). Panel 2, left as is: documents already issued, such as regulations, Presidential actions, contracts, and grants, from section 2(b). Panel 3, not named: companies, publishers, and readers, with no instructions and no enforceable right, from sections 2(a) and 4(c).01 USES SIFederal departmentsand agenciesCorrespondencePublic communicationsWebsitesReportsPolicy documentsSection 2(a)02 LEFT AS ISDocumentsalready issuedRegulationsPresidential actionsContractsGrantsSection 2(b)03 NOT NAMEDCompanies, publishers, readersNo instructionsNo enforceable rightSections 2(a), 4(c)

Section 3 defines SI as the same technologies that federal law already calls artificial intelligence, so the new words don’t name a new technology. That definition holds until a later Presidential action or an Act of Congress replaces it.

Its instructions go to federal departments and agencies, and it says it creates no right that anyone can enforce in court. As I read it, nothing in it tells a company, a publisher, or a reader what to write. One company’s owner has said he will follow it anyway: The Next Web reported, citing Reuters, that Elon Musk said SpaceXAI would be renamed SpaceXSI.

How this site applies it

SI replaces AI in the site’s own words, including prose, headings, page titles, captions, chart labels, menus, and the glossary. The series that covers memory and storage built for these systems is now Memory and Storage for SI.

How this site applies it

What switches to SI and what keeps AI

Two panels. Panel 1, switches to SI, the site's own words: prose and headings, page titles, captions and chart labels, menus and the glossary, and the series name Memory and Storage for SI. Panel 2, keeps AI, names and addresses: Workers AI, Radeon AI PRO, SK hynix AI-N P, Celestial AI, quoted titles, and the address /storage-for-ai/.01 SWITCHES TO SIThe site’s own wordsProse and headingsPage titlesCaptions and chart labelsMenus and the glossaryMemory and Storage for SI02 KEEPS AINames and addressesWorkers AIRadeon AI PROSK hynix AI-N PCelestial AIQuoted titles/storage-for-ai/

Names stay as their owners write them. Cloudflare’s Workers AI, AMD’s Radeon AI PRO cards, SK hynix’s AI-N P, and Celestial AI keep their names. So do the titles of papers, articles, and talks quoted on these pages.

Addresses stay as they were, so the series still lives at /storage-for-ai/ and links people already saved keep working. On a storage site, SI could also be read as the International System of Units. Here, units always appear as their symbols, such as GB/s and °C. When a page says SI on its own, it means Super Intelligence.

The order gives the Assistant to the President for Science and Technology 60 days to propose legislative language for a federal definition of SI. If Congress passes a new definition, or a later Presidential action replaces the one in Section 3, I’ll update this page to match. The SpaceXSI rename hadn’t happened yet either. Musk gave no date, and the SpaceXAI account on X still used the old name when The Next Web’s report ran.
