Terms of Use

What you can rely on here, who owns what, and how to reach us when something is wrong.

This site

These terms cover anyone who reads Eyes on Flash or uses its tools. Eyes on Flash is an independent site about memory and storage technology, written by Sean Webster. It has no accounts or sign-up, and it publishes guides, articles, labs, data pages and software.

No warranty

Pages are checked against their sources before they publish, as the Editorial Standards describe. Even so, the site, its labs and its data are provided as is, with no promise that they are complete, current or free of errors. A test result describes the hardware and setup named on its page, and your own drive or system may behave differently. You use what you find here at your own risk, so back up your data before you run a tool or follow a guide that writes to a drive.

Not investment advice

The Bit Market pages explain company-reported results and market figures from named sources. They are not investment advice, and nothing on this site recommends buying or selling a security.

The pages on this site are © Eyes on Flash, as the footer of every page says, except material a caption credits to someone else. You are welcome to read any page and link to it. To reuse material beyond that, ask through the contact page.

The timeline and tracker data files have their own terms, set out under Data terms in the Editorial Standards.

Software

The tools and games on the Software page are open source under the MIT license. Each repository’s LICENSE file covers the code in that repository, no-warranty terms included.

MCP server

Eyes on Flash runs a public, read-only MCP server at https://eyesonflash.com/mcp, so SI assistants and other tools can look up the figures behind the timelines, the Bit Market and the Fab Tracker. It needs no account or key. It serves facts and numbers only, each with a link to the public source it was read from, and it leaves out figures taken from paid analyst reports, teardown services, and third-party press and review sites. A maker’s own newsroom and investor releases count as the maker’s source and stay in.

You may use what it returns in answers, notes and your own work, as long as you cite Eyes on Flash and the source named on each record. Copying the data files whole stays under the Data terms. Like the rest of the site, its data is provided as is, with no warranty, and the server may be slow, limited or offline at times. Each connection address may make a limited number of requests a minute, and past that the server answers 429 Too Many Requests. Eyes on Flash is independent, and no company named in its data endorses it.

The Privacy section of the Editorial Standards lists what the site collects and why.
