The Best Hardware to Buy
Eight categories, each with up to three picks per tier. Every pick clears a bar we state on its page, is backed by a published review we saved, and has the parts inside named. We show no prices, because a page built once cannot keep one current; every link goes to the retailer to check.

How we pick
Clears the bar
Each tier names the hardware a pick must have, such as PCIe 5.0 and DRAM for a high-end SSD or 48 GB of VRAM for an SI workstation card. The bar is drawn at the top of every category page.
Backed by a saved review
At least one published review that tested the part is saved in our library. Among the parts that clear the bar, the reviews set the order.
Parts named
The controller, flash, DRAM or chip comes from the maker or a named teardown. Where no source names a part, the card says so instead of guessing.
Older parts may win a tier, and their cards say so. We do not show prices. The “Check price” buttons on the category pages are paid links, each marked “Paid link”, and the disclosure sits at the top of each page. A commission never changes the picks or their order.
