- 3Q 2026
ADATA’s third-quarter 2026 results set records on sales and slipped on margin, which makes them a useful read on chip costs and on what SSDs and memory could cost you. Revenue was NT$53.0 billion, up 38.9% from the second quarter. Operating margin fell to 28.9% from 33.5%, and gross margin fell to 35.88% from 42.1%. A record quarter with thinner margins points at costs rising faster than prices, though the release leaves room for other readings. The other companies are side by side in the Q3 2026 roundup, and The Memory Cycle covers why costs move.
What happened
ADATA’s release for the third quarter of 2026 reports record results. Revenue was NT$53.0 billion, up 38.9% from the second quarter and 265.2% from a year earlier, and operating profit was NT$15.31 billion.
Profit grew more slowly than sales. Operating profit rose 20% on the quarter, so by my arithmetic from the release’s table the operating margin fell to 28.9% from 33.5% in the second quarter. A year earlier it was 13.2%. Gross margin was 35.88%, against 42.1% in the second quarter.

What it means for flash
Gross margin is the gap between what ADATA’s products cost it and what it sells them for, and that gap narrowed while sales grew by more than a third. My reading is that its memory costs rose faster than its own prices. A shift toward lower-margin products would narrow it too, and the release gives no bit shipments, prices or product mix to tell the two apart.

What it means for the drive you buy
The release says nothing about retail prices. If rising chip costs are what squeezed the margin, ADATA is passing them on rather than cutting prices, and nothing in this quarter points to cheaper SSDs or memory yet.

Cost reaches the price only if ADATA passes it on

Under each period are the months it mostly covers. Year-on-year growth compares a company’s quarter with its same quarter a year earlier, in the currency it files in. The last four quarters add each quarter’s revenue in US dollars, shown where all four are filed.
Won, yen, New Taiwan dollar and yuan figures are converted to US dollars at the Federal Reserve H.10 average for the calendar quarter; the filed figure is under each.
